Search engines look at many factors when ranking a website -- over 200 of them, to be precise. These factors include on-page elements, backlinks, social media signals & more. The problem is that while search engines have made it easy for us to implement many of these factors, tracking your progress & knowing when you’ve got it right can be a real nightmare! That’s where our free SEO audit tool comes to save the day.

Key Features of our Free SEO Audit & Analysis Tool

In a moment, you will see many of the reasons why your website is not ranking. For many basic issues you may be able to fix the issues yourself or get your web master to get it done.

What does the SEO Site Audit Report Include?

Spot issues on your site with a click of a button, and get a comprehensive list of all the issues that need to be fixed

Check Your Site Speed and see What Needs to be Done to Improve It:

A slow website can hurt your rankings.

Are your pages loading fast enough?

Are the file sizes a little too big?

Are your site files sending way too many requests?

All these factors contribute to a slow-loading site. But luckily for you, our free SEO audit tool will list them all so you can see where the problem is and what needs fixing.

WHAT ELSE NEEDS ANALYsis?

  • Does your URL have unnecessary parameters?
  • Do you have unnecessary redirects in place that need to be fixed or removed?

These are some of the questions our free SEO audit tool will try to answer for you.

Are you using them to their full potential?

Do they include the most relevant keywords and, at the same time, accurately describe what’s on the page? Your title tags should contain the most relevant keywords, begin with a keyword, and not have more than 70 characters.

All these factors will be listed here so that you can see what improvements need to be made.

They can significantly improve your SERP click-through rate. But to achieve this, you have to make sure they’re diligently crafted, compelling enough and contain your most relevant keywords.

  • Do your meta descriptions include your primary keywords?
  • Are they less than 160 characters in length?
  • Is there an enticing call to action at the end?

All these questions will easily be answered with our free SEO audit tool!

Not sure what should go in the file name?

See what our SEO audit tool recommends. Check to see if your images have meta tags, alt tags and are optimized with relevant keywords.

Not only that, it will tell you how many times you’ve used each one of them on your site — how cool!

Are your primary keywords missing?

Is your H1 somewhere in the middle of your page instead of at the beginning?

That and a whole lot more will be included in the report so you can get a clear picture of what needs to change and why.

How’s it impacting your site’s performance? Here’s your chance to find out.

As it stands, every single one of your web pages needs at least 2000 words of content to rank.

You also want to make sure you’ve not used the main keywords more than four times in one post (for fear of being accused of keyword stuffing).

Next, you want to bold, italicize, and underline these keywords, and most importantly, make sure they at least appear in the first 100 words of your article or post.

Now, imagine going through your content and manually checking off all these checkboxes.

Do you really have that much time?

Our SEO audit tool will do this for you – and did we mention it’s quick and easy.

Google is all about improving user experience – it’s all they care about.

With the help of their Panda algorithm, they can easily tell which site provides a better user experience than others by just looking at your code.

To do this, Google keeps track of user clicks and impressions, along with how long users stay on your site (through its visitor tracking tool). After looking at all these metrics and much more, the algorithm decides whether or not you’re worthy of ranking high or low.

Our free SEO audit tool will give you a scope of everything and how Google analyses your website’s code.

It will check your site for pagination errors, poor navigation, broken links, missing titles, etc.

It will also check whether your HTML code is W3 validated or if your site is linked to sitemap.xml.

All these problems can hurt your ability to rank well in the SERPs. Luckily for you, they’re all easy to fix, but only after you have identified them.

Now, the question is, are you using it to its fullest potential?

The answer isn’t always “yes” — that’s why we made this free SEO audit tool.

It will let you know how strong your following is on Facebook and Twitter.

It will tell you how many of your followers see your posts.

If you’ve been wondering whether or not this is true, here’s an easy way to find out for sure.

Our free SEO audit tool will tell you how crawlable, indexable, and fast your site is on mobile devices.

All of these factors will influence your website’s ability to rank well in the SERPs.

Has it ever occurred to you that these numbers represent something important?

They do: they indicate how valuable your website is on the web.

If you’ve got less than 10, it means you don’t have enough authority in Google’s eyes.

On the other hand, having more than 100 external links on your web page may mean the exact opposite.

It’s not just about numbers, though — you also want to make sure they’re do-follow links (links that pass link juice) and that you’re not wasting your effort on no-follow links (links that don’t pass any link juice).

  • Found X links from other sites – how many backlinks opened your page?
  • Found X links from unique domains – how many unique backlinks clicked on their links to open your webpage?
  • MozTrust Domain Score – how trustworthy are the links pointing to your website?

Do you have a lot of referring domains but not as many high DA/PA backlinks?

That could mean you’re getting lots of low-quality links from other people’s blogrolls or site comments.

  • MozRank Domain Score – Estimates your domain’s value by evaluating the number and quality of the backlinks linking back to it.

MozRank Domain Authority – On a scale of 1 to 100, how easy is it for you to rank your website on Google? On Moz, it’s referred to as Domain Authority. The bigger your domain authority, the easier it will be for you to rank your website.

what's the best part in the report?

The report has all these details and a lot more. And the best part is that the report will be sent to you via email so that you can go through it at your own convenient time.

Not only that: you’ll also be provided with a list of boxes to check off, each bearing a particular task to carry out. Keep in mind that each of these tasks represents an identified issue on your site.

So, with every issue you fix, you want to go back to the list and strike it off one by one until you fix them all.

Too Technical?

It is OK. Even graduates of certified SEO courses find it a struggle to make sense of the hundreds of competing information.

To compound the problem, Google does not disclose the vast majority of its ranking factors and refuse to divulge which are truly important and what new algorithm updates are lurking around the corner which can erase your year-long slog to optimise your website.

You will need technical and highly season pros like MediaOne in your corner. Contact us for a free consult.

SEO Audit FAQs

We’ll attempt to answer some of the frequently asked questions (FAQs) about SEO audits and hopefully give you a better idea of what it’s all about.

#1 What is an SEO Audit?

An SEO audit or site review is essentially a breakdown of your website’s on-page and off-page optimization efforts to see where the gaps are and how they can be addressed.

Usually, these audits are conducted by businesses working with marketing companies to identify the issues holding them back from ranking.

#2 What Does the SEO Audit Tool Show Me?

The best part about this SEO tool is that it shows where your website presently stands in terms of SEO. Our proprietary system uses over 30+ critical SEO factors to give you an accurate snapshot of your site’s health.

#3 What Can You Expect from Your Report?

The report provides a comprehensive analysis and assessment of your website’s on-page and off-page optimization efforts based on the following:

  • Keyword Rankings – we check your website for proper page titles, descriptions, header tags, and keyword density to determine if your pages are optimized well enough.
  • Keyword Ranking Opportunities – identify the keywords that need a little more love in terms of optimization.
  • URL Audit – a quick pick of all your URLs to see whether they’re set up correctly and if some paths are missing for SEO-friendly crawling.
  • Image Optimization – not all images are optimized for search engines, and this includes your logo. We’ll assess whether your images are giving you any SEO value or if there’s any room for improvement.
  • Link Profile Audit – make sure your links aren’t coming from spammy websites, and check the number of high-quality links pointing to your website.
  • On-Page Metrics – take a quick snapshot of your metadata, H1 tags, and page loading times to see if they’re competitive enough.
  • Mobile Optimization – most search engines prefer responsive web design, one of the critical parts of SEO. The tool will check your site to see if it’s mobile-optimized
  • Off-Page Metrics – a look at your link-building efforts to see how many links you’re getting from high-quality websites.

This report will give you a good idea of where things stand with your website’s SEO efforts and establish a benchmark for any future reports.

#4 How often do you recommend I conduct an audit?

We recommend you conduct the audits at least once every quarter. Some businesses opt to do it even more frequently, especially when launching new campaigns or making significant changes to their websites. We can help with that!

#5 What do you need from me before we can begin?

The best part about our audits is that they don’t require much on your end. All we need from you is a few screenshots of how your website looks, as well as the ability to access it over FTP. If any third-party integrations are involved in running your website, we’ll reach out for permission and credentials to access them.

#6 What if I’m not happy with the report?

No business is ever 100% satisfied, but we do our best to make it as comprehensive as possible. If you’re unhappy about anything regarding the SEO audit report, just let us know, and we’ll run the audit afresh.

#7 How much does an SEO audit cost?

It can range from free to about $30K, depending on how complex your project is. The SEO audit tool above is free. But if we were to manually run the audit for you and prepare a handcrafted report for you, the cost will range from $500 to a few thousand dollars (again, depending on how complex your project is).

#8 Should I use the tool or reach out for a manual Audit?

We understand that some businesses might not have the resources to conduct manual audits regularly. If you’re looking for an easy way to access this information, we recommend that you go with our automated SEO audit tool.

#9 How long does an audit take?

The average audit takes about 2-3 days to complete. It all depends on the size of your website and how much content you have. The bigger and more complicated your site is, the longer it will take us to run through everything and provide a comprehensive report for you.

#10 Can I just ask you questions instead of buying an Audit Report?

You bet! The best part about our company is that we’re always available to answer questions. And if you want a report, just reach out, and we can have one created for you in no time!

#11 Why Do I Need an SEO Audit?

An SEO audit will tell you everything about how your website is doing in the eyes of search engines. It will also provide actionable recommendations to help you make improvements. We can’t stress enough how important this information is for any business – if you’re trying to get more customers and increase revenue, taking a proactive approach towards improving your site’s performance can help. With an SEO audit, you’ll be able to:

  • Identify problem areas that could use immediate attention
  • Find opportunities to improve your website’s performance in search engines
  • Get a scorecard showing how well you’re doing and identify where your biggest successes and challenges lie

#12 How Can I Request a Free Audit?

Because we want to help all businesses succeed online, we provide free audits to any business that wants one! Our audits are comprehensive and include everything you can think of when it comes to your SEO efforts. If you’re ready to take the next step with your website, fill out our Free SEO Audit form, and our system will automatically generate one for you.

#13 What Does SEO Actually Mean?

SEO stands for “search engine optimization.” That might sound intimidating if you don’t understand what it is or how it works, but the truth is that any website owner can benefit from optimizing their site. Put simply, search engine optimization is all about helping search engines understand your site better and improving how it shows up in results.

#14 How Can SEO Help My Business?

If you want to keep growing, getting more customers is essential. But there’s so much competition out there that just showing up on Google isn’t enough anymore. Think of it like this: if you go out on a Saturday night to try and meet single people, there are tons of places you can go. There are bars, clubs, museums – the list goes on and on. So, how do you stand out?

Search engines are no different. You can’t just rely on being somewhere in the results anymore. You need to come up with a strategy that will help you rise above the noise. Optimizing your website can help with that by ensuring that people can find you when they’re looking for what you offer, whether it’s a product or service, local information, or even entertainment!

#15 What are the Different Types of SEO Audit?

SEO audit comes in different forms. Some audits focus on technical SEO, like making sure your site is well-coded and follows best practices. Others look at how users experience your website and what you could do to improve that. We take a comprehensive approach, looking at both aspects as well as many others.

Here’re the different types of SEO audit:

  • Technical SEO Audit
  • On-page SEO Audit
  • Content Audit
  • Site Migration Audit
  • Website Redesign Audit – prelaunch
  • Website Redesign Audit – postlaunch

#16 What is Technical SEO?

Technical SEO deals with the “behind-the-scenes” elements of your site. It makes sure that everything is coded correctly, follows current best practices, and looks good to search engines.

A technical audit can help you check things like:

  • Your robots.txt file – see if search engine crawlers can access all pages of your site
  • Your server’s returning 404 errors instead of 200, 301, or 410 codes
  • Your site’s speed issues
  • Your images – if they are optimized for search engines

#17. What’s an On-page SEO Audit?

An on-page SEO audit looks at how search engines view your site. It’s about ensuring that everything on your website is seen the way you want it to be.

An on-page SEO audit can help you check things like:

  • Are all of your title tags optimized?
  • Are keywords included in meta descriptions?
  • Are images optimized for crawling?
  • Is your content written in a way that will help search engines understand it?

#18 What’s Content Audit?

A content audit is all about making sure your site has plenty of great, relevant content for users. It looks at the quality of what you have to offer, not just how many words or pages you have. A content audit can help you check things like:

  • Is your site well-rounded?
  • Does it provide more than one thing?
  • Does your content follow SEO best practices?
  • Is your content optimized to reach users looking for what you offer?

#19 What’s Site Migration Audit?

A site migration audit helps prevent problems when transferring a domain or changing web hosts. To avoid losing traffic or rankings, it ensures your new site brings over essential elements from the old one, like redirects and meta tags.

#20 What’s Website Redesign Audit?

A website redesign audit is an opportunity for you to make sure your website is ready for its big launch. We’ll take a look at things like your most important pages, how users are coming to your site, and the best way for you to communicate what you have to offer.

#21 After Launch Website Redesign Audit

There is another type of audit called After Launch Website Redesign Audit. It’s usually done after a website has been launched.

An after-launch website redesign audit helps you ensure that your content is still well-optimized for search engines. It also looks at how users come to your site, what they think of it, and the best ways you can present yourself.

#22 What Does an SEO Audit Consist of?

What’s included in an SEO audit will always vary depending on what you need. Some audits are very technical and look more closely at coding; others focus on the user experience.

In general, an SEO audit will look at your site from many different angles:

  • User Experience – how easy is it for users to read and navigate your site?
  • Content – does your site have a lot of great content that can help the user? Is it optimized for search engines?
  • Technical – is your website well-coded and free from errors?
  • On-page – do you have pages to target different types of keywords? Are those targets within the user’s expectations as far as what they’ll find on the page?
  • Backlinks – have you built a strong link profile that will pass power and authority to your site?
  • Site Speed – does your site load quickly for users, or do they leave before it finishes loading?

#23 What is Site Architecture & How Does It Relate to SEO?

Site architecture is about how a website is structured so that crawlers can find and index its content. It’s also how users navigate from one page to another. If you organize your information well, it will be easy for both search engines and users to find what they need. You want to create a logical hierarchy that makes sense for your content.

#24 How SEO Plugins Affect SEO?

SEO plugins help you perform specific tasks. They don’t affect how search engines see your website, but they might be able to do things like:

  • Generate XML sitemaps automatically
  • Optimize titles and meta descriptions
  • Help you track keywords and focus on improving them.
  • Instruct users to use specific keywords in their permalinks to help with crawling

Choices About How We Use and Disclose Your Personal Information

We strive to provide you with choices regarding the Personal Information you provide to us. We have created mechanisms to provide you with the following control over your Personal Information:

Tracking Technologies. You can set your browser or smartphone to refuse all or some browser or application cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being sent. If you disable or refuse cookies, please note that some parts of the Vertafore Solution(s) may then be inaccessible or not function properly.
Promotional Offers from Vertafore. If you do not wish to have your email address/contact information used by Vertafore to promote our own or third parties’ products or services, you can opt-out by unsubscribing within the email sent to you or by sending us an email stating your request to opt-out of marketing communications to marketing@vertafore.com. If we have sent you a promotional email, please use the above 2 methods and do not send us a return email asking to be omitted from future email distributions as the sending email address might not be able to accept incoming email. This opt out does not apply to Personal Information provided to Vertafore as a result of a product purchase, warranty registration, product service experience or other transactions.

De-Identified, Aggregated Information

Where contractually allowed (by you and any applicable third party), Vertafore may de-identify and aggregate certain Personal Information inputted by you into the Vertafore Solutions for both internal and commercial purposes (information passed through the Vertafore Solutions to or from third-party integrations which is not converted into field within the Vertafore Solutions (e.g. for email purposes) is not de-identified or aggregated). Such internal purposes include the improvement or enhancement of existing Vertafore Solution(s) or the creation of entirely new Vertafore Solutions. Commercial purposes include the aggregation and sale of de-identified information, including for, but not limited to, research or benchmarking purposes. Where such de-identified and aggregated information is used commercially, Vertafore has implemented technical safeguards and business processes that prohibit re-identification, both internally at Vertafore and for the purchaser after the license or sale is executed.
Personal Information Rights and Choices

Certain regulations (including the CCPA) provide individuals with specific rights regarding their Personal Information. Vertafore is at all times a Service Provider (as defined in CCPA) or Processor (as defined in the European General Data Protection Regulation) of the Personal Information contained in the Vertafore Solution(s). As such, Vertafore will not substantively respond to any individual exercising such a right. If we receive a query regarding the below rights from an individual about which you inputted Personal Information in the Vertafore Solution(s), we will direct that individual back to you as the Vertafore customer who controls the Personal Information.

This section describes your rights and explains how to exercise those rights.

If you receive a query regarding the below rights from an individual about which you inputted Personal Information in the Vertafore Solution(s), you should be able to respond to that request without additional assistance from Vertafore. Please limit requests for Vertafore assistance to those that relate to specific third parties with which we have shared the Personal Information or with regards to archive and back-up information, if so affected by the request.

Access to Specific Personal Information and Data Portability Rights

You may access, update, correct or extract any and all Personal Information directly within the Vertafore Solution(s) without the assistance of Vertafore.

For both Personal Information relating to users and the third parties about which you inputted Personal Information, you have the right to request that Vertafore disclose certain Personal Information to you about our collection and use of the Personal Information over the past twelve (12) months. Once we receive and confirm your verifiable individual request we will disclose to you:

The categories of Personal Information we collected about you or an individual about which you inputted Personal Information in the Vertafore Solution(s).
The sources for the Personal Information we collected about you or an individual about which you inputted Personal Information in the Vertafore Solution(s).
Our business or commercial purpose for collecting that Personal Information.
The categories of third parties with whom we share that Personal Information.
The specific pieces of Personal Information we collected about you or an individual about which you inputted Personal Information in the Vertafore Solution(s) (also called a data portability request).

The information contained in this Statement should assist you in responding to any such individual request as it relates to information stored or processed in the Vertafore Solution(s).

Deletion Request Rights

You may delete any and all Personal Information you have inputted into the Vertafore Solution(s) without the assistance of Vertafore.

You have the right to request that Vertafore delete any Personal Information about you or that you have inputted into the Vertafore Solution(s) that was collected and retained, subject to certain exceptions including regulatory data retention requirements. Once we receive and confirm your verifiable individual request, we will delete (and direct our service providers to delete) the Personal Information from our records, unless an exception applies.

We may deny your deletion request if retaining the Personal Information is necessary for us or our third-party service provider(s) to:

Complete the transaction for which we collected the Personal Information, provide a good or service that you requested, take actions reasonably anticipated within the context of our ongoing business relationship with you, or otherwise perform our contract with you.
Detect security incidents, protect against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity, or prosecute those responsible for such activities.
Debug products to identify and repair errors that impair existing intended functionality.
Enable solely internal uses that are reasonably aligned with consumer expectations based on your relationship with us.
Comply with a legal obligation, including, but not limited to, compliance with applicable state and federal regulations that govern retention of Personal Information.
Make other internal and lawful uses of that Personal Information that are compatible with the context in which you provided it.

Exercising Access, Data Portability, and Deletion Rights

To exercise the access, data portability, and deletion rights described above, please submit a verifiable request to us through the Vertafore Solution(s), directly to Customer Support, or through your MyVertafore account.

Only you may make a verifiable request related to Personal Information that we collected from you or your users through the Vertafore Solution(s). You may make a verifiable request as the individual that the Personal Information is about (the user) or on behalf of an individual whose Personal Information you have provided to us through the use of the Vertafore Solution(s), in such a case you must provide the verification of that individual and it will be limited to your instance of the Vertafore Solution(s).

You may only make a verifiable request for access or data portability twice within a 12-month period per individual. The verifiable request must:

Provide sufficient information that allows us to reasonably verify you are either i) the person about whom we collected Personal Information or ii) an authorized representative which inputted the Personal Information into the Vertafore Solution(s).
Describe your request with sufficient detail that allows us to properly understand, evaluate, and respond to it.

We cannot respond to your request or provide you with Personal Information if we cannot verify your identity or authority to make the request and confirm the Personal Information relates to you or an individual about which you inputted Personal Information in the Vertafore Solution(s).

We consider requests made through your password protected account sufficiently verified when the request relates to Personal Information associated with that specific account.

We will only use Personal Information provided in a verifiable request to verify the requestor’s identity or authority to make the request.

Response Timing and Format

We endeavor to respond to a verifiable request within forty-five (45) days of its receipt. If we require more time (up to ninety (90) days in total), we will inform you of the reason and extension period in writing.

We will deliver our written response to the email address identified on your account with us.

Any disclosures we provide will only cover the 12-month period preceding the verifiable consumer request’s receipt. The response we provide will also explain the reasons we cannot comply with a request, if applicable. For data portability requests, we will select a format to provide your Personal Information that is readily useable and should allow you to transmit the Personal Information from one entity to another entity without hindrance.

We will charge a fee for professional services to respond to a request that could have been handled without direct Vertafore involvement (meaning by a user of the Vertafore Solutions(s)). If we determine that the request warrants a fee, we will tell you why we made that decision and provide you with a cost estimate before completing your request. Such work will be performed at Vertafore’s then-current rates for professional services.

Non-Discrimination

We will not discriminate against you for exercising any Personal Information rights. Unless permitted by applicable regulations, we will not:

Deny you goods or services.
Charge you different prices or rates for goods or services, including through granting discounts or other benefits, or imposing penalties.
Provide you a different level or quality of goods or services.
Suggest that you may receive a different price or rate for goods or services or a different level or quality of goods or services.

Data Security

We have implemented measures designed to secure Personal Information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure.

The safety and security of your Personal Information also depends on you. Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password for access to certain parts of the Vertafore Solution(s), you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share your password with anyone.

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we do our best to protect your Personal Information, we cannot guarantee the security of Personal Information transmitted to, through, or by the Vertafore Solution(s). Any transmission of Personal Information is at your own risk. We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained in the Vertafore Solution(s).

Your continued use of the Vertafore Solution(s) following the posting of changes constitutes your acceptance of such changes.
